Development of Asbestos Management Policies. The Duty to Manage Asbestos under Regulation 4 of the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012/ (CAR) 2012, requires the Duty Holder to:

  • Assess whether premises contain Asbestos
  • Assess the risk from Asbestos
  • Take action to manage the risk from Asbestos:
    • Provide appropriate Training
    • Review and Update
    • Encapsulate
    • Remove
    • Enclose
    • Repair
    • Re-inspect
    • Label
    • Advise the Emergency services

The initial drivers for initiating the aforementioned and maintaining the effective management of asbestos containing materials identified on site should be detailed in a user friendly framework document that is periodically reviewed and is typically referred to as the client”s Asbestos Policy.

The client”s Asbestos Policy for Managing Asbestos should include details on the following:

  • Policy Overview
  • Current Actions
  • Future Actions
  • Period of review
  • Areas of responsibility
  • Various Procedures
